THEY SAVED THE PEAK!!!!!

Photobucket
On Tuesday February 9th 2010 on my way to work, I was listening to the radio and found out that the Iconic and worldwide known HOLLYWOOD Sign was temporarily going to be covered by this: “SAVE THE PEAK.” The reason was because The Trust for Public Land was draping the sign as it campaigns to raise funds to buy Cahuenga Peak and stop developers from purchasing the 138-acre parcel to build mansions around the Hollywood sign. The draping process started on Thursday February 11th 2010, and concluded on Tuesday the 16th of the same month. I knew it was temporary and I knew it was for a good cause, but it wasn’t the same for me waking up in the morning and not seeing the words that mean so much for the ones who live in this city!
I was so happy when I heard the news yesterday April 26th, 2010. THE PEAK WAS SAVED!! Thanks to the donations of many of celebrities that gave back to their town. Among them was playboy founder Hugh Hefner, who donated the $900,000 needed to save Hollywood! The Hollywood sign for us is like The Eiffel tower to Paris and the Statue of Liberty to New York. As I was doing research I found out the real meaning of the sign, which is: “THIS IS A PLACE WHERE MAGIC IS POSSIBLE, WHERE DREAMS COME TRUE!”

I knew there was something else about this city that made me fall in love with it. It is the history and the significance of the name of the town itself. I love you HOLLYWOOD, and that’s why I created this blog too!:)
